"All athletic facilities must be improved, indoors and out."

The Morrisville football team completed its substandard season with a loss last Saturday at Wesley College, 53-14.

The loss extended the team's losing streak to four straight games, and capped off a 1-8 inaugural term in Division III of the NCAA.

Offensively, the Mustangs had some success through the air against the Wolverines. Quarterback Billy Poling connected on 10 of 15 pass attempts for 165 yards and touchdown throws to both Eric Hill and Mack Prince.

Morrisville's running game struggled to find its rhythm, rushing for -27 yards on 34 carries against the Wesley Wolverines. Wesley moved its undefeated record to 10-0 and its Division III ranking to third in the nation.

"Our lack of experience this year showed a lot," said Mustang head coach Terry Dow. "Individually, guys have to work to get bigger, stronger, and faster to win battles."

Dow, who is not known for losing eight games in a season, added that the year was the longest of his 18-year career. "In the big picture, we took some steps to get where we want to go despite our 1-8 record," he said.

Athletic Director Gregory Carroll said regarding Dows’ comments, "I think we are making strides, but like anything, progress is incremental."
Carroll added the college is continuing to explore the possibility of a renovated Drake Field. He said the new field house (Recreation Building) "will serve all our field teams with an indoor turf facility."
