The women’s soccer team wrapped up their season last week. It was their first season in NCAA Division III play. In 16 games, they only had three home games, and they lost all three. They had a record of 2-14 and were were shut out 10 times throughout the season while earning one shutout of their own. Their first victory of the season came against Daniel Webster College early in the season, and their shutout win came against Cazenovia College. The Mustangs had trouble scoring throughout the season, as they were out scored by the opponent 77-9. The most goals on the team were 3, scored by Jessica Squire. She also led the team in points with seven. This first season in a new division was rough for the Mustangs. But third-year coach Robin Penoyer said in a preseason interview that they have the talent to be a good team. She went on to say that the more they play together, the more they will gain chemistry with each other; this year they were new players playing together. There were eight freshmen on the team. |
