It’s been 28 years since The Eagles have produced a new album, and they have managed to come back with the same soul and passion they had when they first began. The Eagles, a band who has never lost their love of music, has recently produced a new album, Long Road Out Of Eden. The band, prided on their harmony and talent, have once again written songs that warm the heart and make you think. Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, the members of the band, all worked together to write and produce the album. The two disc album has a variety of different songs. Songs with some country background, songs that portray their perfect harmony together, and songs that are purely The Eagles. Throughout the album you are able to fully enjoy all four of the member’s voices. The album has a slow, calm beat all throughout, with the perfect music to unwind to. Long Road Out Of Eden is an album much like their classic albums. If you fell in love with the classic Eagles’ sound, you’ll enjoy this CD. But don’t expect it to be another Hotel California. The album is a two disc set of mostly easy going licks with a mix of upbeat songs. The first song you encounter on the CD is “No More Walks in the Wood” which displays their true harmonics that the band has been showing since the beginning in such songs as “Take It Easy.” The CD also shows a display of different genres. The Eagles show their country side in the song “Busy Being Fabulous,” and then switch to a pop feeling in the song “What Do I Do With My Heart.” Then in “Fast Company,” you get to hear their funky, upbeat side. Finally, you get to experience the classic Eagles in the songs: “Waiting in the Weeds,” and “No More Cloudy Days.” This CD has a wonderful collection of different genres with a new sound that is definitely The Eagles. But when a classic band like The Eagles comes out with a new album, I would have loved to hear more of their classic melodies. It’s been 35 years since The Eagles first began their career. In the 1970s, The Eagles were one the most well known names in the music industry. Best known for their country and folk sound, they were one the first bands to really mix country with rock. The Eagles have produced many CDs over the years. Hotel California was their best selling studio album and in the Rolling Stone list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time it took 37th. Along with Hotel California, Eagles: Their Greatest Hits1971-1975, according to Recording Industry Association of America, was ranked as the top 10 best selling albums. Eagles: Their Greatest Hits1971-1975 is the best- selling album to date. No great band is complete without a few outstanding awards and The Eagles have many. According to VH1 The Eagles have won four Grammy awards in total. In 1975, they won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance by Duo, Group or Chorus for Lyin’ Eyes. In 1977, they won Best Arrangement of Voices for New Kid in Town and Record of the Year for Hotel California. And finally, in 1979, they won Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for Heartache Tonight. In 1998, The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 the group was honored by the Recording Industry of America as the Best Selling Album of the Century. In 2001, The Eagles were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Also on CMT.com, 40 Greatest Men of Country Music in 2003 they were ranked as number 34. The Eagles have been laying low for quite some time now working with their classic songs to hold their fame. The new album though, must have been art based rather than money based, said Mark Bialczak, a music critic for The Post-Standard and a Chimes Alumni of 1977, since they must still be very well off from their past fame. The Eagles began as a country band and incorporated a rock feeling in over the years, but have again in this CD gone back to their original country roots. “The band has come full circle,” said Bialczak. Many have called The Eagles the greatest American band of all time. With their numerous sounds and their perfect harmony, they make it impossible for any other band to remake them. In their newest album, Long Road Out Of Eden, the band has lived up to their infamous popularity. They have once again shocked their audience by displaying their timeless, but ultimately, their unique sound. 28 years away from the studio couldn’t stop The Eagles from producing another fantastic album.
