This year rock is back.
Down many catwalks, designers showed off their form-fitting, cutting-edge outfits.

Don’t get down if black is not your color. Colorful dresses have been seen just as often.

Fashion week began in New York City as numerous designers showed their new trends for the fall season.

From Feb. 1-8, New York was bustling with models, designers, celebrities, and high fashion.

Down the catwalks, designers showed off their form-fitting, cutting-edge outfits. The grays of last year have become the blacks of this year. Designer Max Azria was one of the many showing pff his rock designs. Leather was seen all around along with short minis. Legs are in.

But don’t feel down if black is not your color. Colorful dresses were just as prominent. Designers have put an edgy spin on simple patterns. Dresses with a paint-splattered look were shown off, along with open-toed stockings.

Aside from the rock look, many other designers displayed their own trends for the fall season. Diane Von Furstenberg showed her 1940s-inspired designs and DKNY presented a 70s glamour look.

Furstenberg’s collection had a bit of European spice, with looks like plaid blazers with satin elbow patches, wool vests and wrap dresses.

The new DKNY collection by Donna Karen brought the theme of electric glamour. With bow blouses and wide-leg pants, the collection had a 70s inspired feel to it. Other designs such as balloon-hem mini dresses and plaid jackets brought a more modern feel to the collection.

Azria introduced his bandage-themed Herve Leger collection, showing his signature design, a skin tight bandage dress. Azria, never straying from his theme, presented coats, chunky knits, dresses ranging from minis to gowns with feathers, ribbons and sequins to add some flare.

Leggy looks were sported at many fashion shows such as Lacoste, Nicole Miller and Abaete and Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat line. With mini dresses, tights and flats as a regular with many designers.

With legs and rock n’ roll, the new edgy fashion trend for this fall is in. Simple and laid-back won’t cut it. Edgy, but chic with black and deep purples is this fall seasons look.
