Rays of Light Awards nominations
remain open through March 5

The Student Affairs Committee reminds students of the March 5 deadline for nominations for the Rays of Light awards. The awards honor students who have given selflessly of their time and energy to help other people in their communities.

There are two awards for students. The first, the Rays of Light Award, is for students who have at least a 2.0 grade point average and are in their sophomore year taking at least nine credits. The nominees must be involved in community service for which they receive no academic credit or other compensation. The award brings a $100 gift certificate to the Campus Store.

The second, the Rays of Light: Servant Leadership Award, is for students who have at least a 2.5 grade point average and are in their junior year. They must submit a 500-word essay, along with their academic and service transcripts. The award is for $700, $200 of which goes to a charity of the recipient’s choice, in most cases the one the student has been serving as a volunteer.

Recipients of both awards will have their names added to a plaque in the Whipple Administration Building.

To nominate someone for either award, complete a form and drop it in one of the boxes located in the Student Activities Building, Seneca Dining Hall, Butcher Library, or Charlton Hall. Students can read more online at www.morrisville.edu/raysoflight.
