CAMPUSIllegal downloading could affect financial aid Illegal downloading of music has repercussions that many students are not aware of. Morrisville State College has taken the necessary precautions to make sure students are aware of the consequences if they get caught illegally downloading music. SUNY Alert system gives heads-up to students during emergencies SUNY Alert is an emergency notification system that alerts students, faculty and staff by calling numbers, contacting e-mail addresses and sending text messages to those that have signed up to be notified in case of an emergency. EDITORIAL The crisis in Darfur: Morrisville State College plans April 17 event Many people have heard of Darfur, but an astonishing number still do not realize the horrors people go through every day there. Point/Counterpoint: Censorship in America On February 28, Nadine Strossen, president of the American Civil Liberties Union, gave a speech at Hamilton College regarding online censorship and first amendment rights. This is our own debate on the topic. 2008 presidential candidates offer voters plenty of info on their Web sites In November, America elects its next president. Your vote will matter. The candidate that wins will definitely have an impact on our lives and futures. As students and young adults, we prepare for our futures with the choices we make every day. Your vote for president is one of those choices. LIFESTYLEThere are funny things happening on the way to a debut This semester the Friars are performing their version of the classic and ridiculously long-named musical comedy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Bob Marley biopic looks promising for excited fans The first biopic of reggae legend Bob Marley is in the works. The film is based off of Marley's widow Rita's 2004 autobiography, No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley. The autobiography is mainly about their relationship, but the film is to be filled with much more of Marley's life. SPORTS Softball team training hard for upcoming season The Morrisville softball team will start their season Saturday, March 15 with an away game at Mount Mercy College. The Mustangs played a scrimmage against Hamilton College on Sunday, March 1 and beat the Continentals by a score of 15-3. Women's lacrosse off to a strong start The women's lacrosse team won their first two games of the year. The ladies will take on their first SUNYAC opponent, Potsdam, at home on Tuesday, April 1.
