Good Luck Chuck is a movie for the simple-minded, a typical romantic comedy followed by a predictable ending. Starring Dane Cook as the cursed Charlie Logan, Jessica Alba as Cam the accident prone penguin fanatic, and Dan Folger as Stu, Charlie’s best friend. Charlie, a dentist, has been looking for the perfect girl and having no luck. Come to find out he never will thanks to a jealous Goth girl from a spin-the-bottle party when he was 10 years old. The Goth girl puts a hex on him that has followed him his whole life, never allowing him to find his true love. And there's a twist: every girl he sleeps with will find her soul mate in her very next lover after him. When Charlie finally finds his perfect girl, he realizes that the hex might be true and now the game is on. He must figure out if the curse is real, fix it somehow, and all the while not sleep with the beautiful and tantalizing Cam. Along the way he runs into difficult obstacles which he must overcome before it is too late and he loses Cam forever. Good Luck Chuck has a good moral to the story, but getting there is the difficult part. The movie drags on for an hour and a half while in the middle you begin to understand why it earned its R rating. The movie is a good date movie and it has its funny parts, but I would not recommend this for families. If you really want see it, rent it. Don’t waste your money at the theatre. Good Luck Chuck opened in theatres Sept. 21 and has a running time of just over an hour and a half. The movie was rated R for sequences of strong sexual content, crude dialogue, nudity, language, and some drug use.
