The women’s team, coached by Peter DeNoble, is fairly young filling its roster with five freshman players out of the nine players on the team. These players include freshmen Danielle Bergeron, Robin Gignilliat, Mariane Pardoe, Kirsten Weideman, and Karli Wimmer. Also participating are swimmers sophomore Heather Lathrop, junior Emily Olsen, and seniors Sheila Levchak and Ashley Mancini Like the women’s team, the men’s team is also coached by DeNoble and made up of almost all freshmen except for two competitors. Freshmen include Cameron Bray, Devin Conner, Justin Ware, Edgar Linian, Thomas Marosevic, Christopher Perch, Angel Rodriguez, Paolo Sardella, Bryan Sheairs, and Besmir Shparthi. Also participating is junior Charles Bisnett and senior Kenny Anderson. Both teams commenced their season Oct. 20, competing against SUNY Fredonia, but left with a 0-1 record for the men and women teams. From there, the teams competed in their first home meet the following Wednesday against SUNY Oneonta, recording another lose for both teams. The Mustangs put their record to 0-3 on Oct. 27, after losing events at a tough meet against Hartwick College. The men’s team as well as the women’s suffered two more losses as they traveled to SUNY New Paltz Nov. 3 and Mount Saint Mary College the following Saturday, Nov. 10, making both records 0-5. The men’s team swam to victory, stealing their first win away from Cazenovia College Nov. 13, while the women’s team struggled against Cazenovia, leaving again without their first win. “So far I think that the season has gone well. Our record isn’t the greatest,” Bray adds, “but individually we are all improving and having a good time while we’re at it.” The Mustangs again face Cazenovia in their next meet on Dec. 6, this time the with home pool advantage.
