On Sunday, Oct. 5, members of the Office Technology Club and their co-advisors walked in a 3-mile hike to raise funds for breast cancer. The hike began in the Clinton Square section of downtown Syracuse, winding throughout the city streets of Syracuse and ending back at Clinton Square. The event attracted thousands of enthusiastic walkers of all ages enjoying a beautiful fall day. The club wishes to thank the Morrisville State College community for helping them raise over $350. Spare change was collected at various locations across campus (Pit Stop, Jazzy Joe’s, Marshall Hall, Galbreath Hall, the School of Business Office, the Nursing Office, the Financial Aid office, Prof. Tucker and Prof. Muss’ office, as well as the Office Technology faculty office). A special thanks goes out to Erika Hawkins and to Kim DeHimer, who placed the donation bowls around campus and took it upon herself to walk around and seek donations from students and faculty/staff. It was because of her effort and determination that we reached (and exceeded) our goal of $300. The club will be walking again next fall. You’ll see that we kept one donation site open all year round at Jazzy Joz. Any spare change adds up, as was evident with this year’s fundraiser. |
