The Morrisville Women’s field hockey team set the tone for the rest of the sports programs here at Morrisville with their win over Wells College on September 3, marking the victory the first win for the school since it moved up to National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III competition.

While their record now stands at 1-5, the team’s first win of this season has brought a sense of excitement and achievement to the team as described by first year head coach Adair Milmoe. The close-knit group of players, which includes only one returning player, is building credibility in the D-III community as opponents who attempt to take them too lightly are finding out that this young team is always ready for a challenge, says Milmoe. Milmoe is confident her squad's ability to get the job done, perform well, and plain out have fun.

Milmoe says her main objective for this upcoming season is to see her team reach its full potential and become the strongest team it can be. However, Milmoe’s personal objective is that with her guidance, her players become better on the field and better people off of it--a wish she was very adamant about.

Her team’s edge derives from goalie Stephanie Smith; who statistically ranks among the best in D-3 women’s field hockey, brings the on-field presence of energy and attitude that will carry the young team through the season.
